BOOKS & ME

I started writing as a child.
At ten, I began keeping a diary and wrote almost every day for years. At sixteen, I completed a book of poems — which, to this day, remains unpublished.

Maybe that’s because I was such an obsessive reader, I never quite considered myself a writer.


As a teenager, I devoured books — often finishing one a day.
If the story was thrilling, I’d stay up all night just to reach the last page, then head straight to school the next morning.

My mother would sigh and say, “Your nose is always in a book — will we ever see your face?”
That love for reading never left me. I'm still a book lover and collector.


Since one of my passions is drawing, I’ve always been drawn to picture books — where illustrations speak as much as the words do.

And a clever rhyme? It’s like a game of words that makes me giggle every time.


Putting it all together — writing, illustrating, rhyming, storytelling — I suppose it was only a matter of time.

To borrow a quote from Steve Jobs:


“You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backward. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future... This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life.”
I guess it was all written in the dots.

I’m a mother to a wonderful boy, and we live with our beloved dog, Fujima.
Over the years with my son, I’ve collected a treasure trove of children’s books — especially those with beautiful, thoughtful illustrations.
It was always my dream to write and illustrate a picture book myself.

And one rainy, boring summer — we finally did.
The idea for our story came to life spontaneously, and just like that, *Boxing Kangaroo Wins a Friend* was born.
